No More Chores
Let us do the work God has set before us with diligence and grace and not grumbling and complaining. This statement is true and certainly applied in most areas of our lives except for when it comes to “chores”.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a chore as:
chore [ chawr ] 1) routine task: a task, especially an ordinary household task, that has to be done regularly. 2) unenjoyable task: something that is unpleasant, difficult, awkward, or boring to do. Synonyms: routine, bore, hard work, imposition, inconvenience. According to this definition, a chore is defined as A) a routine task; B) an unenjoyable task. According to God and His Word, we are to be keepers at home. If we complain, seeing our calling as an “unenjoyable task” or chore, we are actually rebelling against God and His Word.
God has given us a charge to keep, without murmuring or complaining, to be a help meet to our husbands, home keepers, and mothers. Some “unenjoyable tasks” we encounter may be washing dishes, folding clothes, washing windows or walls. What ever the “unenjoyable task” is, God has given us the strength and the ability to carry through. His grace certainly is sufficient for us to carry out the duties of a loving wife and mother.
Should we find ourselves in a situation of complaining just remember, as a mother and wife we are servants and ministers to those in our homes. We have to rely on God, through His Spirit, to quench the fiery darts of satan. We are much more than conquerors through Christ. So the next time you are keeping home and feel a “I don’t feel like doing chores” moment coming on, just remember it’s not a chore. This is apart of our ministry as wives and mothers. God is good and His grace certainly is sufficient.
To God be the Glory!!!
